Dr. Benjamin Hendy is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in shoulder and elbow surgery. He has specialized training in minimally invasive (arthroscopic) and open treatment of shoulder and elbow conditions, including shoulder arthritis, rotator cuff tears, fractures, and instability. He has advanced training in shoulder replacement surgery from many of the leaders in the field of shoulder arthroplasty. He is particularly interested in complex problems of the shoulder requiring shoulder replacement, sports related injuries, shoulder instability with bone loss, irreparable tendon tears and failed previous surgery.
Dr. Hendy graduated from the University of Utah as a member of the Hampshire Honor Society for academic performance and excellence in intercollegiate football. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society. He went on to complete an orthopaedic surgery residency at the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute at Thomas Jefferson University where he was awarded The Everett J. Gordon Award for the chief resident demonstrating outstanding clinical achievement. He was fortunate enough to complete an American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons recognized fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at the prestigious Rothman Orthopaedic Institute at Thomas Jefferson University. There he learned the most advanced techniques in modern reconstructive and arthroscopic shoulder and elbow surgery from many of the world’s experts.
Dr. Hendy has authored and published several peer reviewed articles and book chapters relating to shoulder and elbow conditions. In addition, he has presented his work at meetings across the United States. He is a fellow member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons society. Dr. Hendy is focused on patient care and evidence-based medicine, using clear communication to ensure that every patient receives the knowledge necessary to understand the pathology and all the treatment options, and ultimately make a shared decision on the treatment plan.

Timothy Tan MD is an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in adult reconstruction of the hip and knee including both primary and revision surgery. He cares for patients with all types of degenerative hip and knee conditions, as well as those with complications from prior joint replacement surgery.
He attended University of California Los Angeles and graduated Summa Cum Laude in Physiology with honors. He continued at UCLA for medical school and went to the Rothman Institute at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia for his orthopaedic residency. He completed additional subspecialty fellowship training in total joint replacement and adult reconstruction at University of California San Francisco.
In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Tan is active in research and has published over 120 peer reviewed papers and his research has been presented at over 300 national and international orthopaedic meetings. He has received numerous awards from the Hip Society, Knee Society and American Academy of Hip and Knee Surgeons for research on outpatient total joint replacement, infection prevention and treatment, and the prevention of complications during joint replacement. He also serves as a manuscript reviewer for several orthopaedic journals. His academic interests include same day joint replacement, and complications and failures after joint replacement.
He enjoys talking to and educating his patients about their conditions and the scientific literature behind about their different options and including them in their treatment decisions.
Tim was born and raised in Northern California. In his spare time, he enjoys playing basketball, tennis, hiking, traveling, and trying restaurants with his wife and Dooly, his dog. He chose to reside in Visalia because he immediately in love with the community.
